AFLC Scavenger Hunt 2023! Families light up up your Catholic DNA!

The average Catholic views Lent as a time of recollection, repentance, and stillness. While that is rightfully so, what tends to be overlooked is the hope and joy that the season brings; sentiments of rebirth and renewal. Subconsciously we treat this time as a period of solitude, but it does not always have to be.

How about trying something different this Lent? How about doing something outdoorsy with your family? How about discovering Jesus in an exciting way, a way that is very much faith-based, spirit-filled, and FUN?! Well, the Archdiocesan Family Life Commission (AFLC) is here to help.

On Saturday 1st April 2023, the AFLC will be hosting their annual Scavenger Hunt! The theme for this year is “Fire Up Your Catholic Family DNA”. As the Archdiocese continues to undergo its synodal process, this Scavenger Hunt is inviting you to do just that; build community, be inclusive, and promote dialogue. You’re probably wondering
why a Scavenger Hunt? Here is what a parent shared from last year’s Hunt.

“It was a spiritual journey, and I did not expect that. The activities that were used to evangelise made my heart full. I learnt about things I would not have if I did not participate. It is about using the things people do and making it fun. While it was both my family and extended family, my church family also participated, and this brought everyone together. Church is about helping families and having fun doing it. It is a community and we got together at the end of the day. When we do this together, we create relationships that carry on beyond”.

So, you’ve heard it folks! Whether you are 4 years or 70 years, there is something for the entire family! Come and let your Catholic Family DNA be fired up and discover that the real treasure is in each other.

That’s Saturday 1st April 2023 from 7am to 1pm. The starting and ending point is Catholic Centre, Chaguanas (next to Presentation College). The cost is $100 per family.
