From October 25–26, 2025, the Archdiocesan Family Life Commission (AFLC) hosted a Skills for Sacramental Marriage Building weekend in Point Fortin, welcoming 15 couples for two days of reflection, sharing, and growth in their vocation of marriage.
Each day began with breakfast, prayer, centering couples in faith before engaging in a series of activities designed to strengthen communication, deepen intimacy, and renew their understanding of God’s plan for marriage.
The programme opened with a warm welcome and introduction by the AFLC team, followed by sessions on creating a safe space and outlining the objectives of the weekend. Couples enjoyed an energetic icebreaker, shared in marriage witness talks, and explored the natural cycle of relationships—recognizing both the challenges and beauty of their shared journey.
A key focus was the Daily Check-In (DCI) method, which helps couples to reconnect emotionally and spiritually through intentional conversation. Testimonies, presentations, modeling, and couple practice sessions allowed participants to engage this tool meaningfully.
Throughout the weekend, couples reflected on God’s Plan for Love, The Original Love Story, and Christ Restores God’s Plan for Marriage, each followed by group sharing and discussion. These sessions emphasized the divine nature of love and the call to mirror God’s faithful relationship in marriage.
Interactive activities such as the Booster Card exercises, Balloon Dance, and Temperament workshops added fun and insight, helping couples appreciate their unique differences and identify ways to better meet each other’s emotional needs.
Saturday concluded with the celebration of Holy Mass at St. Anthony’s R.C. Church, grounding the weekend in prayer and thanksgiving. On Sunday, couples continued their reflection through DCI practice, discussed the topic “Will There Be Marriage in Heaven?, and enjoyed a symbolic “wine moment” celebrating the renewal of their covenant.
The weekend closed with a post-test, evaluation, and open sharing on “What’s next?”, as couples expressed gratitude for the opportunity to grow together in faith and love.
The AFLC extends heartfelt thanks to Fr Cornelius, for his encouraging and challenging message at Mass on Saturday, and availability to answers all the ‘hard’ questions on Sunday. Thanks to Errol and Sandra and the Pt Fortin team, all facilitators, volunteers, and participants for making the weekend a spirit-filled experience of renewal for the Domestic Church.
