Women have the most to gain from the knowledge and understanding of Humane Vitae (HV) as well as the most to lose from ignorance and lack of exposure to its contents.
In reading the encyclical, it is almost impossible to miss that Blessed Pope Paul VI foresaw today’s reality and sought to put forward the moral doctrine on marriage, understanding that man’s reason and will must exert control over our innate desires and emotions, in order for our dignity to be preserved.

Parents, what do you know about online porn, WiFi, spyware, firewalls, social networking sites and profanity filters? Do the terms “Net Nanny” and “cyber-bullying” mean anything to you? And the big question: does your child really need a smartphone or tablet?
These issues will be addressed during an Internet Safety Programme (ISP) at Arima Girls’ RC School, beginning Saturday, February 28 and continuing each Saturday until April 4. Start time is 10 a.m. The target audience is parents, guardians, teachers and other care-givers.

It’s Carnival time again. It’s time to “jump up, jump up! Uh-oh free up, free up! Oy-oye!” according to the 1989 Road March song “Free Up” by Christopher ‘Tambu’ Herbert.
Nothing is wrong with enjoying oneself with an exciting, fun-filled jump-up for Carnival, enjoying the company of friends and family, good calypsoes , toppling off our chairs listening to good commentary and come-backs in Extempo, and so on! But some persons equate “freedom” with doing whatever we want, whenever we want and however we want! Unfortunately, this often means a great deal of irresponsibility by some folks who think this is what “freedom” is all about.

Whenever our BOMA-TT teachers discuss Family Planning in marriage preparation courses, we never separate the women from the men. When it comes to Family Planning, the Billings Ovulation Method® is highly effective but requires a couple’s effort in achieving their desired goal. It is really a couple’s Method. The woman cannot use it on her own (unless she wants to use it for monitoring reproductive health only); she needs her husband’s support and knowledge of the Method for it to work. In this month’s column we focus on why men should be interested in the Billings Ovulation Method® of Natural Fertility Regulation. The following is an edited version of an article written by Gerard Migeon on the website www.naturalwomanhood.org

At “Is Love Forever?” seminars hosted by BOMA-TT, questions are posed to young people on the differences between “love” and “lust”. Unfortunately, many young people (and some adults) confuse “love” with “lust” (strong sexual desire). A tag line we like to use from Jason Evert is that “Love can wait to give, but Lust can’t wait to get.” This definition can help us to differentiate the two and live out what we were created for…which is LOVE! Pope Benedict XVI said: “Only love makes us happy, because we live to love and to be loved.”

More parents in Tobago will be exposed to the “Common Sense Parenting” (CSP) programme run by the Archdiocesan Family Life Commission (AFLC) from early next year.
The announcement came at the November 15 graduation ceremony for 18 volunteer CSP trainers at the Catholic Centre, Chaguanas. A first group, numbering 50 trainers, graduated in November 2011.
